Data Science Nairobi is a non-profit professional group that brings together people interested in data science in Nairobi. We are a community of data scientists, data miners, statisticians, data analysts, data engineers, data architects, data visualizers, data journalists, data science practitioners, data consultants, academics, researchers, people from science and social sciences, and in general people directly involved in data projects. Meet the Organizer

Douglas Wachira

douglas-wachiraDouglas is the organizer of the Data Science Nairobi Meetup group. He previously worked as an Actuarial and Risk Analyst at Jubilee Insurance Company Limited in Nairobi. He has a passion for leveraging technology to help in the fight against poverty. He is an ardent supporter of SDG 2- Zero Hunger that aims to end hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. He is the founder of STEM for social good, a non for profit organization that aims to equip destitute children in Africa with tech skills and introduce them to the STEM disciplines at an early age. Research interest lie in Machine Learning and Deep Learning and their application in the fields of financial inclusion and social protection
